Purse hooks are a perfect Curio City product. They're functional. They're attractive. They're hip. They're fairly priced. They're of high quality. Above all, they're a clever solution to a genuine problem. Don't believe us? Skip down to the bottom of this page and prepare to be shocked.
Our pursehooks all have a non-skid rubber backing, and the hook pivots freely around the head. Apparently purse hooks have been around since the 1950s. Who knew? All of a sudden, purse hangers are everywhere.
Other stores sell plain, uninspired, mass produced handbag hangers for as little as $5. Sure those will do the job, but we don't sell cheap handbag hooks here. These are the sophisticated Je Marie hooks that started the trend. Original PurseHooks strike the best balance of price and quality that we have seen. For the ultimate bling, check out the premium Fusion Glass line (see Related Products).
Original PurseHooks hold up to 35 pounds, and they aren't just for handbags -- keep your shopping bags, umbrellas, hats, or diaper bags up just as well. Lightweight and compact, they take up very little space in your purse.
Each PurseHook comes in its own black velvet pouch, embroidered with the PurseHook logo. Each PurseHook is a unique creation, individually made in small batches. Because no two are alike, the patterned hooks that you receive will not exactly match our photos, and the translucent colors might be a shade darker or lighter than pictured.
Did you spend all that money on your nice handbag so that you could set it on a dirty restaurant floor packed with germs waiting to ride home with you? Do you hang it over the back of a chair, where it can be easily stolen? Do you place it on the seat beside you, crowding your dinner companions? No, you probably keep it on your lap, where it's just plain uncomfortable.
You need a purse hook.
To seal the deal, our purse hangers are eco-friendly. They are made from 100% recycled zinc alloy with a 100% recycled rubber backing that clings to any surface.
"The Original PurseHook earns its Mayor's Choice Award because my wife uses her Little Black Dress design every time we go out. She loves having it within eyesight at all times, and other women frequently ask her where they can get one."
ABOUT THE DESIGNS:
Your Purse and Your Health
Women carry handbags everywhere; from the office to public toilets to the floor of the car. You won't be caught without your handbag, but did you ever stop to think about where your handbag goes during the day? If you think about it, you shouldn't be surprised if your purse picks up some dirt...and germs.
It turns out handbags are so surprisingly dirty, even the microbiologist who tested them was shocked.
Microbiologist Amy Karen of Nelson Labs says nearly all of the handbags tested were not only high in bacteria, but high in harmful kinds of bacteria. Pseudomonas can cause eye infections, staphylococcus aurous can cause serious skin infections, and salmonella and e-coli found on the handbags could make people very sick.
In one sampling, four of five handbags tested positive for salmonella, and that's not the worst of it. "There is fecal contamination on the handbags" says Amy. Leather or vinyl handbags tended to be cleaner than cloth handbags, and lifestyle seemed to play a role. People with kids tended to have dirtier handbags than those without, with one exception.
The handbag of one single woman who frequented nightclubs had one of the worst contaminations of all. We're going to spare you the details, but trust me -- it's disgusting.
Use hooks to hang your handbag at home and in toilets, and don't put it on your desk, a restaurant table, or on your kitchen counter top. Experts say you should think of your handbag the same way you would a pair of shoes. "If you think about putting a pair of shoes onto your counter tops, that's the same thing you're doing when you put your handbag on the counter tops."
