The Other Summer Sport
The baseball design is printed on high quality, two-piece construction golf balls developed for consistent control, distance, and durability. These balls are meant to be used. Baseball golf balls are printed in high-gloss inks that won't chip or fade. They come in clear gift packaging with the design facing forward.
If you've ever had trouble remembering which ball on the green is yours, this is the solution for you.
Did you know...?
Many people still believe that Abner Doubleday invented American baseball in 1839, even though this myth has been discredited. There's no evidence for the claim in Doubleday's many letters and papers, it doesn't appear in his obituary, and he was never inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. A commission of baseball players (not historians) organized in 1905 concluded that Doubleday invented baseball in Cooperstown, NY, that he coined the word "baseball", designed the diamond, defined fielder positions, and wrote down rules and regulations. No written records have ever been found that support these claims. The story's main source was a letter from an elderly gentleman who was a 5-year-old Cooperstown resident in 1839, but his reliability is questionable given that he was convicted of murdering his wife and died in a hospital for the criminally insane.
In reality, baseball is an adaptation of the English games cricket and rounders. The first published rules of baseball were written by Shane Ryley Foster in 1845 for a New York club called the Knickerbockers, and the progression from the Knickerbocker Rules to today's game is well documented.
