TIE One On
Each Metal Earth model is laser etched in meticulous detail on 11 cm (4.33") metal sheets. Pop out the pieces by hand (or use wire cutters to get especially crisp lines), bend the tabs using needle-nose pliers, and fit them together as shown in the simple pictorial instructions. For maximum dramatic effect, display your model on the LED Display Base or the Solar Spinner (sold separately, see the Related Products below).
The TIE Fighter is an intermediate difficulty Metal Earth model. It consists of 26 pieces on two sheets of metal. TIE stands for Twin Ion Engine fighter craft. Star Wars fans will want to put two or more of these regular TIE fighters together with one Darth Vader TIE Fighter model, plus some X-Wings to engage with.
Please note that Metal Earth models have sharp edges and are not recommended for children under 14.
Are you curious...?
Technically designated the TIE/LN or TIE Line, the Empire's standard starfighter exists in overwhelming numbers and was designed to attack in massive waves. Rebel pilots call them "Eyeballs." Its solar-powered ion drive has no moving parts and requires virtually no maintenance...but since cheap TIE Fighters (with no hyperdrive, shields, or even life support) and their pilots are considered expendable, maintenance isn't really an issue.
