Overview
A Unique, Hand-made Work of Art
Click the Photos Tab to See Our Stock Albums
The front of the purse is made from the album cover, cut down to 9.25" x 8" (23.5 x 20.3 cm) and laminated, then affixed to sturdy fiberboard. The back of the purse is the actual vinyl record, also cut to fit a square piece of fiberboard. Both of these panels are riveted to a black plastic mesh that forms the purse's sides and bottom. The mesh opens to about 3.5" wide (8.9 cm). The whole thing is topped off with two black nylon straps that are about 10" (25.4 cm) tall. The result is a durable, practical handbag like no other.
These are real records from the 1980s and earlier -- not reproductions. All Record Purses have minor scuffs and scratches, and no two are exactly alike. Due to this product's authenticity -- each record purse is a handmade work of art -- the available quantity of any specific title is very limited.
Please note: Because the purse is smaller than an album, the cover is cut down to size. The artist who makes the purses does her best to include the musician's name, the album title, and the central image of the cover art...but not all record jackets cooperate. Making these decisions is where the artistry comes in. Sometimes she cuts out empty space to splice the cover elements together, leaving a subtle, but visible, seam.
Special Orders
We are no longer taking special orders.
The Mayor sent in his own LP to make a custom purse for his wife's birthday. She was absolutely thrilled with her Rocky Horror purse!
And no, we don't have the Pat Benatar album shown in our thumbnail graphic. We just wanted to use the twirly picture.
