The lights in the front edge of the Panther Vision lighted cap's bill are barely visible until you turn them on -- and then the ultra bright LEDs shine a pure white light right where you need it. The light is perfect for arm's-length task work, and remains useful out to a distance of 15 feet (4.6 meters). They can be seen from up to a mile away (1.6 km). All Panther Vision hats ship with two replaceable CR-2032 lithium coin cell batteries. A pair of batteries provide about 30 hours of continuous operation. The LEDs themselves are said to last an average of 12 years. Every cap comes with a manufacturer's warranty from Panther Vision.

The 100% cotton cap has a top button and six sewn eyelets. A color-coordinated sweat band has a foam sandwich layer for added comfort. The cap is unadorned except for the Panther Vision logo sewn, unobtrusively in matching thread, into the bottom of the bill. All of the solid-color caps are 100% cotton except for the Blaze Orange style, which has a polyester upper. They're lightweight, comfortable, low-profile six-panel baseball caps with two LEDs built into the brim. You won't believe how bright these little lights are.

Structured or Unstructured?

"Structured" caps have buckram batting sewn into the two front panels to give the hat stiffness and shape. "Unstructured" caps are soft and formless. Not all colors are available in both styles. The dropdown list above shows you all of the combinations you can choose. Which is better? It's purely a matter of personal preference. We sell equal numbers of both types.

Brim Switch or Slider Switch?

The original Panther Vision caps have a leather adjustment strap with a brass buckle in back. The battery compartment and its slider-switch control are on the strap. These "slider switch" caps are no longer being made, but we got our hands on a supply. Click the Photos tab to see a picture.

The next-generation Panther Vision cap has a pushbutton switch sewn right into the bill of the cap. Instead of a leather strap, they have a velcro closure in the back. The battery compartment is in the head band instead of on the adjustment strap.

The newer "brim switch" is a little easier to operate than the slider, and it's definitely a lot easier to change the batteries. But some customers think that the older "slider switch" design is more durable, they like the richer quality of the leather strap and brass buckle better than velcro, and they prefer a battery compartment outside of the cap. Like the question of Structured vs. Unstructured, it's entirely a matter of personal preference.

Notes About Color:

We do our best to represent the colors accurately, but different angles and lighting conditions can produce some color variations in our photos. These descriptions might help you choose:

• Stone Gray with Black Trim is very light -- almost white. The inner headband, underside of the brim, and edge of the brim are black.
• The Blaze Orange (a.k.a. Safety Orange) cap has a black inner headband and underside of the brim, like the Stone Gray cap. The upper is 100% polyester and the lower is 100% cotton.
• The Navy Blue cap is darker than it appears in our flash photos. It's really almost black.
• The Pink Brim Switch cap is a rich, but not dramatic, shade of pink. The Pink Slider Switch version is pale pink.
• Your cap will arrive with a paper tag in the battery compartment to keep the batteries fresh. Remember to remove that strip before you use your cap.
• To order multiple colors, add the cap to your shopping cart once for each color you want, specifying a different color each time.
