Monitor Your Grill from Indoors

Maverick's programmable radio-frequency food thermometer lets you remotely monitor the time and temperature of food cooking in the oven or outdoors from anywhere in your home. The receiver announces "Your food is almost ready" when the temperature is within 10 degrees F. of the target, then says "Your food is ready" when the target temperature is reached.

An amber backlit LCD displays intuitive icons and the actual temperature. You can choose between timer and thermometer modes, or use both functions simultaneously. Ipod-style controls make setting the temperature and taste easy.

In thermometer mode, you first choose a type of meat, then choose the desired level of doneness -- Rare, Medium Rare, Medium, and Well Done. The pre-programmed temperatures match US FDA guidelines, so not all "tastes" are available for all meats (there is no pre-set for rare chicken, for example). You can override the presets and enter your own target temperature if you disagree with the FDA values.

Two AAA batteries for the receive and two more for the transmitter are included. Naturally, you can use the unit with the receiver docked inside the transmitter base if you don't want to use the remote feature.
